I am very excited to be sending you my first e-newsletter and also launching my 'new-look' website - www.evabennett.com.au
For many years, my passion has been to create various training programs to inspire people to change something for the better in their lives - whether to become a better presenter, improve communication skills, make better decisions, or to improve health and well-being.
Then two years ago I felt compelled to write my book, "So What Do We Do Now?" The Baby Boomers Guide to Enjoying Retirement and what a journey that has been! Especially combining my speaking background with my book, to present at numerous seminars around Australia on the importance of life planning for retirement.
Each month I would like to share with you, some tips that I trust you will find helpful.
What is the focus for this month of February? FOCUS/INTENTION
At the beginning of each new year, we can all do some brainstorming, to gain a better focus of how we want things to evolve in our lives during the coming year.
-
What am I doing that is not fulfilling and using up my time and energy?
-
What am I doing to please other people because they say I 'should'?
-
What can I change? What 'could' I do, that feels more true to me?
-
Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I now focus on what I do want.
-
How can I start bringing this into reality? What steps do I need to take?
What are your intentions for the coming year? It is so easy to let your thoughts get stuck on what you don't want and nothing changes. All you seem to attract is more of the same - which is what you really don't want. When you start to change your focus from what is draining your energy, what makes you feel frustrated and unfulfilled, you start focusing on what you do want and then you will start attracting positive changes into your life.
Fifteen years ago, most of my training programs were run in the evenings or at weekends. After a while I realised that this cut into my social life with family and friends. I kept saying to myself that I didn't want to work just evenings and weekends, but nothing really changed. When I started to focus on a solution, that what I wanted- my intention being to work more on weekdays, it was amazing how opportunities for weekday work began to appear.
Write down your intentions and picture the outcome - where do you see it heading? Whenever you slip back into thinking about what you don't want, catch your thoughts and focus again, on what you do want. Positive thinking lifts our energy and helps to bring what we want, into our life. Research has shown that the more focused we are on looking at the good in our life and building on that, we maintain better health and well-being.
So whether you are preparing for a new stage of life after full-time work, preparing for an important presentation, looking for a new job, improving your communication skills, etc, this process of focusing on intentions can help you live a happier life, now, not one day down the track. "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time." J. Taylor.
